SAP modules are industry wide solutions provided by SAP which are now called as SAP solutions. SAP modules are SAP FI, CO, MM, HR, PP, PM, SD, QM, BW and ABAP.
SAP FI means financial which contains options for general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payables, asset management, tax management and consolidation along with other features. This module of SAP allows managers to access and analyze financial data of the organization in real time which was time consuming with legacy systems eventually tracking financial status of the company at any point of time and helping them in making quick and correct decisions.
SAP CO or controlling module provide features for internal accounting or management, it is mainly focused on planning, reporting and monitoring the operations of the organization. It has features like cost element accounting, cost center accounting, internal orders, activity based accounting, product cost controlling, profitability analysis and profit center accounting.
SAP HR or human resource focuses on skilled and qualified manpower and their growth with in the organization. This module includes employee history, payroll, career management, succession planning and most importantly training.
SAP MM or materials management is a part of SAP logistics and monitors the supply chain of the organization. Creating requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipt and invoice are few important transactions of this module. It has features like requisitions, goods receipt, account payables, bill of material, inventory management, purchase orders, master of raw material and finished products.
SAP SD or sales and distribution module focuses on customer related activities from sale to delivery of product or services. The features of this module are RFQ, sales order, pricing, picking, packing and shipping. It provides some important transactions like creating customer order, list of orders, creating delivery of order, changing the order or delivery and create invoice.
SAP BW mean business warehousing or business intelligence, this module delivers facilities of data storage and data extraction, formatting the data for displaying in the desired format for better understanding, complete reporting and data analysis tools. It uses netweaver for these purposes and comes with sub modules like data mart and mix load.
Apart from these there are other SAP modules with specific functionality like SAP PS where PS stands for project systems, this module helps in designing and monitoring specific projects with the features like make to order, plant shut downs and third party billing. SAP PM where PM means plant management is focused on maintenance of equipments and machinery of the organization to maintain the production levels and standards. This module contains features like labor management, material requirements and inventory and down time of plants or plant outages.
SAP QM means Quality management which as the name suggests focuses on improvement of the quality of products and services of the organization. It ensures compliance of standard processes across the organization. It has features like planning, executing, inspection and certification.
SAP PP or production planning module manages production with the help of features like master production scheduling, required material management, capacity planning and shop floor.
SAP ABAP is called as another module though it is not a module, basically it is programming language used for reporting. SAP ABAP stands for advanced business application programming.
